Time Period for District & Municipal Court Appeals

July 19th, 2010

We have had quite a few people call lately about appealing an AL district court or municipal court case. Many of those people waited until after the time period expired to call, so I thought I would write a quick post on this matter.

If you have been convicted of a crime or violation in an Alabama Municipal Court or Alabama District Court and wish to appeal that conviction, you must act quickly because you only have fourteen (14) days to perfect your appeal and seek a new trial in the Circuit Court. If you wish to have a jury trial on your appeal you must affirmatively indicate on the appeal form that you want a jury trial; otherwise you will be given a trial by another judge. If you have any questions contact one of our attorneys.
